Who are we?

Who are we, if not offering our hearts without hesitation or reservation?

Who are we, if not saying you don’t have to carry this alone?

Who are we, if not accepting and loving each other, even when we disagree?

Who are we, if on the hard days, we don’t choose each other again and again?

Who are we, if we cannot turn ordinary time together into sacred rituals?

Who are we, if we cannot laugh at ourselves, and each other without malice?

Who are we, if our love cannot evolve, deepen, and expand as life changes course?

Who are we, if we do not do everything we can, to prove the words, “I’m here!”?

Who are we, if not feeling each other across a crowded room?

Who are we, if even in imperfect ways, we do not nurture, cheer on, and just listen?

Who are we, if we say, “Here is my heart, because you are my person”?
